Motion Graphics & Compositing
Project 3
Idea/Concept
Continuing the overall branding of Good Vibes Festival, I will be focusing on the recent festival organized by them, which is the Good Vibes Weekender. Since there is no official video from them, I shall use this opportunity to create one by extracting all the existing information and elements they have. For example, the official website of GVF.
Moodboard
These are elements that I extracted from the website to apply it into my channel identity.
Style Frames
Following a similar art direction, I prepared some style frames as references for the video. This also helps me to visualize and stick to the same style and not stray too far from it.
Technical Processes
After Effects
-Kinetic Type
The title intro/outro is animated with a glitch effect using the opacity expression to give it a flicker effect.
I also used it for text animated with an infinite scrolling of each artist's name.
And also a transition of the ticket banner.
I masked the rectangles and then animated the text using the position keyframes, which I stacked on top.
I also animated the original logo of 'GoodVibes' to position the branding as the final outro.
-Overlays
I added a particle overlay to give that grainy effect. In AE, I changed the blending mode of this layer that I placed on top of the orange gradient background.
-Masking
Following the original poster with a circle in the background, I used it to insert the video lineup of featured artists.
Everything is compiled in After Effects before moving onto the background music - audio editing.
Premiere Pro
-Audio
For the audio, I edited the original track by clipping/ into a few, for example, the parts of the song that I feel is important or enhance the look and feel.

PROJECT 3
This project is a continuity from Project 2 (Channel Bumper). While that was a teaser or a short introduction, this is an extension of that project which features more detailed information.Idea/Concept

FEEDBACK
Week 11
General Feedback:
To know when you have done good work is when every frame is a good frame. Compositing all the elements is our main task like animating the content and typography. If we are to create our own effect that would be even better but due to time constraints I allow you guys to use existing overlays and manipulate them.
Specific Feedback:
At this point, I have to forget about the channel bumper and follow the existing branding of GoodVibes. Nice attempt on the style frames, I am looking forward to see the final outcome. A tip to source out videos from Instagram is to use an extension 'Video Download Helper'. The videos are shorter for me to skim through and pick which part I want to feature in my video.

REFLECTIONS
Creating a channel identity for a branding that is already existing is not easy. It was a struggle at first to decide on which direction to go for the visuals. Although I knew what to do after, I still had to ensure that my final outcome aligns with the existing brand. There was a lot more of motion graphics that I included in my video compared to the channel bumper and it's 10 minutes longer than the brief requirements (30 secs). Of course, skimming through and curating the content took up most of my time.
