LECTURES
All lectures have been completed.INSTRUCTIONS
FINAL PROJECT
Using the same rig by Blender Studio, we are to produce an emotion change animation through blocking and polishing.Week 11-12
Self Recording of Acting Reference
We are to start recording ourselves as a reference in the project. Mr Kamal says it is normal for people to think of us as crazy as an animator. I'm a very shy and introverted person, so the first step of this project took me forever to act out.
Fig 1.0 Video Acting Reference
My story idea for the emotion change, the flow is from neutral to happy>shocked>sad>angry>scared.
As seen in the video, the character is standing waiting for someone and sees them (happy) but realizes its the wrong person (shocked and scared)>goes back to waiting (sad)>realizes that she maybe? got stood up (angry)
Weeks 12 - 13
Determining the key poses

After converting the video above into a gif, I imported it into Photoshop to determine the key extreme and breakdown poses.
Weeks 13 - 14
Progression
Some poses were tricky as I am trying to avoid distortion.
In polishing stage, I added the poses in between, playing around with the facial features. Especially the eye area (eyebrows, eyelids).
I also had to adjust the timing on my own instead of following the video reference. Movement-wise, I adjusted the flow of each emotion change so the transition won't be so abrupt. My own expressions are also less expressive so I made it look more prominent for the character.

Props
As for props, I created a wall and a pillar for where Snow waits, referring to my video reference where I was against a pillar.
Lighting and Camera
Both area lighting is used.
I animated the camera movement for the animation.
The final stage includes the compilation of both the blocking and polishing stage.

Sequence:
Neutral > Happy > Shocked > Scared > Sad > Angry
Story: Snow is waiting for someone, and he sees that person from afar. He waves and waves...and he's shocked to see that it's the wrong person which got angry at him and made Snow a little scared. He's back to waiting and he's sad. Realizing he got stood up, he gets angry.
Specific Feedback: Good progress. I am ok with the storyline and the animation flow. Make sure you get the blocking right to ease the polishing process.
